Hello! I'm Your Caring Doula, Alyssa Damasdi. I grew up in Galt, CA then I moved to Hungary in 2011 to do ministry. I married my Hungarian husband and we had our first two boys at a birth center with my amazing midwives. Being in Hungary started my passion for birth and helping women feel safe and heard during labor. I got sick, and the doctor removed a borderline tumor and my ovary. That surgery sparked my passion for supporting women through hospital trauma and anxiety. We moved to Scotland so my husband could study and work on his PhD. Two weeks after our move I found out I was pregnant. I was excited, but I started having intense pain; almost labor intense. I was rushed to the ER and the doctor said I had a likely ectopic pregnancy. I had a very small chance of keeping my last fallopian tube. Baby had ruptured through my ovary and so I was miraculously still able to grow my family. After our first loss, we had another misscarage, I was devastated. I needed time to heal. I learned how hard pregnancy can be, how disappointed someone could be with their body, and I learned how to come alongside women in pain. I became a certified doula a year after our losses, and we moved back to Galt and welcomed our third boy and then our girl! I want to care for those that feel broken and care for those that are just excited. No matter where you are in your pregnancy journey, I want to be with you and encourage you. Supporting you and your family to welcome your little one into this world.

When I’m not talking about pregnancy, birth, and babies, my hobby is in the kitchen. I love making meals and baking for my family!
